Leander ISD's Vision is that "Students will exit our system with the same passion for learning they had when they entered, without economics determining success. Every Option Open."
Jim Plain Elementary Creed
As a member of the Jim Plain Pride I will...
Respect myself and others,
Do my personal best and
Enter ready to learn!!!
I am the Pride of Jim Plain!
Jim Plain Elementary was named after long-time Leander ISD Deputy Superintendent Jim Plain, who played a critical role in developing the district’s school construction program. His emphasis on the “partnership” among architects, engineers, contractors and the school district has made LISD’s construction process effective and efficient.
Parent Survey Information
Leander ISD is committed to building and sustaining strong partnerships between parents and campuses. Leander ISD está comprometido en construir una relación fuerte de cooperación entre los padres y las escuelas.
As part of our continuous improvement culture, each year, LISD administers a parent survey. Feedback gathered through this survey is used to guide district-wide improvement efforts, allowing LISD to better serve students and their families.
The survey will be available online starting Friday, Feb. 5, 2016. The deadline for completing the survey is Monday, February 22. The online survey is available in both English and Spanish at: La encuesta estará disponible en nuestra página en internet comenzando el viernes 5 de febrero de 2016. El plazo para completar la encuesta es el lunes 22 de febrero. La encuesta en línea está disponible en inglés y español en el siguiente enlace:
Thank you for completing this survey. Your feedback is important to this process. Le agradecemos que complete esta encuesta. Su aporte es muy valioso en este proceso.
|Student Transfer Requests
for 2016-17 School Year
Due to projected enrollment size for the 2016-2017 school year, this campus has been closed to new transfers, except consideration will be given to siblings of students who currently attend and who will attend next year. Please be aware that if your student is not zoned to this campus or does not already attend this campus on an approved transfer, this campus is closed and will not be accepting any NEW transfer requests for the following school year, 2016-2017.
Children who currently attend the campus as a 4th-grader, either as a zoned student or as a transfer student, will be permitted to attend the current campus as a 5th-grade transfer in the next school year, and siblings will be permitted to transfer in on a space- and staff-available basis.
All requests to transfer/remain as a transfer must be submitted by the priority deadline date (March 20, 2016) each year in order to be considered, INCLUDING this year's 4th-graders.
Transfer applications from existing transfer students who are not in the 4th-grade will be considered after the priority transfer deadline date, and after available space and staffing have been determined. Parents/guardians will be notified of approval/denial of the transfer request no later than April 20, 2016. Except for approved current-year 4th-graders, there are NO guarantees that children who transfer in to a campus will be able to continue at that campus.
Please note that a non-refundable $30 processing fee was implemented beginning Sept. 1, 2011, for any student requesting a transfer, and this fee does not guarantee approval to the requested campus. When the student transfer submission window opens Feb. 15, 2016, please proceed to Leander ISD’s district website should you wish to submit a transfer request for your child. If you do not have access to a computer, please feel free to stop by the campus and use one of the campus computers. Should you need assistance with the transfer application, schedule a meeting with the registrar at the campus you would like your student to attend, so that s/he may assist you in completing this application.
THANK YOU SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT WILL STREIT.
Build the Habit of Good Attendance
Like you, we care about your children’s education and about their future. You have big dreams for your child and we share those dreams. Here’s why attendance is so important for success:
- Students who miss school at an early age are more likely to struggle academically and, in later years drop out entirely
- Students who miss 10 or more days of school are 20 percent less likely to graduate from high school
- Students who miss 10 or more days of school are 25 percent less likely to enroll in college
- Attendance is the No. 1 predictor of dropout and graduation rates
- Attendance and GPA are the biggest indicators and influence of college and career readiness
- More than half of future dropouts can be predicted by sixth grade, based on attendance and failure in Language Arts and Math
All students may attend morning work club at Plain. Work Club is open Monday-Friday from 7:20-7:50 in room 2306 on Monday-Tuesday and 2307 Wednesday-Friday.
Students may come to work club for the following reasons:
- to get help with work they don't understand
- to complete unfinished classwork or homework
- to read independently and have someone sign their reading log
NEW STUDENT ONLINE REGISTRATION
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION RENEWAL FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR
Volunteers may activate their applications for the 2015-2016 school year today. All volunteers need to renew their application every year, even if they just completed the one for the current school year.
JPE SPIRIT T-SHIRT DAYS
Show your spirit every Monday morning by wearing your favorite Jim Plain t-shirt.
If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, you can pick one up in the front office.
In addition to Monday spirit day, every Friday at Jim Plain is COLLEGE SHIRT DAY!
Wearing your favorite college shirts will remind us of the learning we do during the week
to help prepare us for college.
Spirit Shirts available in the office for $12.00 each.
The district’s online tool, TXConnect, allows LISD parents to easily monitor their child’s achievement throughout the school year. LISD parents can use txConnect to access their child’s grades and assignments, view their child’s STAAR (or TAKS) results, immunizations, and much more!

Continue clipping Box Tops for Education.
Hundreds of products participate in the program, and you probably already have several
in your pantry, freezer, and fridge. For every Box Top you clip, Jim Plain will receive 10 cents.
That may not sound like a lot, but it adds up quickly.
Each school can receive up to $20,000 per school year from clipped Box Tops.
Imagine what Jim Plain could do with $20,000: New books, playground equipment, supplies, field trips, classroom parties.
There are no limitations on the use of funds. Our School can spend Box Top Money as needed.
Help your school while helping the earth...recycle your paper in our green and yellow bin in front of our building! For more information go to:
